How the smart features work.
A plain explanation of what happens when you use the smart features in Verse Copilot. What we send, what we keep, and what you can switch off.

What AutoPilot does with sound
AutoPilot puts the verse on screen while your pastor is still talking. Your phone, or a microphone at the booth, picks up the sermon and the singing. That sound goes to our servers. Speech recognition turns it into text. Verse Copilot finds the Bible reference or the song line, and the matching slide goes to your screen.
A strong match goes up on its own. An unclear one waits for a tap. The person at the booth can override any of it, at any time.
AutoPilot is off until you start it, and it stops when you stop it.
What leaves your computer, and what does not
On the free plan, nothing does. Songs, slides, and presentations run on your own computer, and no sound leaves it. AutoPilot is not part of the free plan.
When you start AutoPilot, the sound of the service goes to our servers. That is the one thing that leaves the room. The provider that turns speech into text receives the sound, not your name, your church’s name, or your account.
Smart Slides, Smart Schedule, and Library Transfer send only what you hand them: the notes you paste, the lyrics you paste, or the photo you take. Nothing else on your computer is read or uploaded.
Recording, and how to turn it off
AutoPilot sessions are recorded by default. We keep the sound of the service so we can see what went wrong when a verse is missed. That is how detection gets better.
You can turn recording off. Open Settings in the desktop app, or your account page at versecopilot.net, and switch it off. AutoPilot works exactly the same, and nothing is saved.
Recordings belong to your church. They are private to your church account. We do not make them public and we do not sell them. We keep them while your account is active, and we delete them sooner whenever you ask. Email support@versecopilot.net and we will confirm when it is done.
What the smart features use
These features use AI: speech recognition and a language model running on our servers.
AutoPilot uses both. Speech recognition turns the service into text, and a language model works out which Bible reference or song line was spoken.
Smart Slides sends the notes or lyrics you paste to a language model on our servers, which splits them into slides. Smart Schedule reads a photo of a bulletin, or an email, the same way and builds a service order. Library Transfer does it for a song library. In all three, nothing goes on screen until you have looked at it.
The speech recognition and the language models come from providers in the United States, under contract with us. We describe them by role in our Privacy Policy. If your church needs the actual company names, email support@versecopilot.net and we will send the current list.
We do not use your recordings to train anything today. Our Terms of Service (section 10) ask permission to train on text transcripts in the future, with names and quoted scripture taken out first. Your audio never goes into training. Any church can turn that permission off by email.
What we do not do
We do not sell your content and we do not sell your data. There are no ads in the app and no ad tracking.
Your recordings, transcripts, and sermon notes go to nobody outside the providers that run the service for us. There is no public gallery. Nobody outside your church account can open what your church puts in.
We do not build devotionals, clips, or books out of your services. And Micah, the support chat in the app, is an automated assistant for product questions. It never sees your sermons or your recordings.
What is optional
Every feature that uses AI is optional. Verse Copilot presents your whole Sunday without any of them.
- AutoPilot. Off until you start it.
- Recording. On by default, off in Settings.
- Smart Slides. Runs only on notes or lyrics you paste.
- Smart Schedule. Runs only on a photo or an email you hand it.
- The phone app. Only if you want your phone as the mic.
On the free plan there is nothing to switch off. No sound and no notes leave your computer.
